Our trip into locally grown foods

My wife recently got us interested in slow foods. These are basically foods grown and raised using more traditional farming methods. They also focus on locally produced foods.

So, this year we joined a CSA and have received a couple of parcels of produce so far. Beginning the first weekend of May I have been going to the local Farmers Market to pick up our share for the week. We opted for an extra special surprise each week in the guise of something special from one of the other local providers. The first week we received Oyster Mushrooms, the second week we received a jar of salsa from from Localfolks Foods.

The shares so far have been comprised of spring onions, chives, radishes, turnips the first week, cherry tomatoes the second week, some assorted herbs such as rosemary and tarragon and a big bag of salad greens.
