The food is distributed throughout the year, when it\u2019s ready. We have already received two chickens, both over 5 pounds, one was frozen and we ate the other. It was quite tasty. When I picked up the chickens on the farm I had a chance to meet with the farmers and chat for a while. They are wonderful people and I look forward to talking to them again in the future.<\/p>\n
One of the driving reasons for purchasing the half share is the health benefits of pastured animals on a farm that does not grain feed, use hormones, pesticides, herbicides, chemical fertilizers or pharmaceutical anthelmintics. The levels of omega-3 fatty acids and CLAs in the meat are much higher than grain or corn-finished animals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
